Crags in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa, Garden Route tours
off the N2 motorway in South Africa as we travel
towards Plettenberg Bay on our Garden Route tours,
you will find a small little village called The Crags.
The village might be small, but the signposts are big and it's
hard to miss the long list of things to do here. Wildlife interactions,
shopping, eating and exploring are but a few of the activities
to do here. You could spend a whole day in this area if wildlife
is your thing.
as you turn off into The Crags, small dirt roads
lead you deeper into the town as many different signs start leading
the way to various establishments scattered around the area. Monkeyland
is a living forest experience where saved or abandoned monkeys
are sent to live the remainder of their lives in a habitat as
natural as can be. Guided tours take place through
the sanctuary and one can also have a bite to eat here, making
it a popular spot to visit on our Garden Route tours.
You can view many different species here from South Africa,
The Garden Route and the world.
next to Monkeyland is Birds of Eden, another massive attraction
within The Crags and Garden Route.
It is the biggest free-flight bird cage in South Africa
and the world, and you sometimes forget that you are actually
walking in a cage. This place is truly a visual experience, even
for people who don't specifically like birds. Guided tours
can be requested, even though visitors are allowed to walk around
in their own time. Birds of Eden also have an on-site restaurant
where guests can enjoy a wondeful view over the pond while having
a bite to eat.
Crags is also home to Plettenberg Elephant Sanctuary.
The Garden Route used to be home to hundreds
of elephants years ago until the woodcutters drove them out and
killed them off during the early 1900's in South Africa.
You can interact with elephants here on guided tours
and even go for a ride on them.
yes, we're not done yet! There's even more on offer in The
Crags! Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness centre is just around
the corner and one of a few centres of this kind in South
Africa and The Garden Route. Here you
can go on guided tours and do interactions with
a variety of animals. It is also a lunch stop option during our
Garden Route tours.
Crags have even more to offer and you can truly spend
an entire day here. Book one of our private Garden Route
tours and request to make a stop here for a day filled
with unforgettable wildlife encounters. The Crags
offer a number of unique attractions found only in South
Africa, and in some cases even the world!
