of our Garden Route Tours head inland towards the Klein Karoo
and Oudtshoorn, the Ostrich capital of the world. The Garden Route
is divided from the Karoo via the Outeniqua mountains. The Great
Karoo of South Africa is a vast and unforgiving landscape of which
the Karoo National Park is but a small portion. Being the largest
ecosystem in South Africa, the Karoo and Garden Route is home
to a fascinating diversity of life, all having adapted to survive
in these harsh conditions. Karoo National Park is dominated by
the lofty Nuweveld Mountains and rolling plains, where many species
that originally occurred here now occupy their former ranges and
can be viewed on wildlife tours. The Karoo National Park and Garden
Route has a wide variety of endemic wildlife. Many species have
been relocated to their former ranges - such as black rhino and
buffalo, as well as Cape mountain zebra. Over 20 breeding pairs
of black eagle find sanctuary within the parks list of species.
During our Garden Route Tours one can experience this wildlife
if requested to do so.

a huge open air lapa, reputedly the largest in South Africa. It
has reed and sneeze-wood walls and is open to disguise, except

outer ring is covered in thatch. Inside the lapa there are several
huge Schotia trees and a log fire. Dinner is usually a mix of
