Garden Route Tours and natural hiking trails

The Garden Route is a magnificent stretch of land, no doubt. Various Garden Route tours ranging from 3 - 6 days will leave you breathless on a few occasions. Viewing this piece of coastal beauty from your car or certain viewpoints are very memorable, but for a few others that simply won't do. They prefer to put on their trainers, pack in a few energy drinks, cereal bars and sunlotion and embark on one of the many hiking trails the Garden Route has to offer. Below are just a few of the popular hiking trails to explore the Garden Route on foot.

Agulhas is known as the Southern-most tip on the continent of Africa. This is where our 6 Day Garden Route tours make there first overnight stop. Here you have a handful of hiking options. The town of Struisbaai offers a 14km continuous sandy beach where you can take a long walk next to the splashing waves. You can also do some hiking to the south point through Cape Agulhas park.

Mossel Bay is known as the official start of the Garden Route and many tours will make a stop in this town. The St. Blaize Hiking trail can keep you busy for a few hours here. Being part of a group tour will probably not give you enough time to do the entire walk, but if you wish to complete the full trail we can make time for this hiking activity on our private Garden Route tours.

Tsitsikamma National Park has plenty of hiking options. For the very brave you can even consider multi-day, overnight hiking tours in this area. These hiking routes are rated amongst the most scenic, not only in The Garden Route but the whole of South Africa. The Otter trail takes you via beaches, hillsides and mountains and will leave you with an in-depth Garden Route hiking experience.

Apart from the above hiking option, Tsitsikamma also offers short, laid-back hiking routes fit for anybody. The oldest recorded Yellowwood tree is found here in The Garden Route and you can do an easy walk there along a boardwalk which takes less than an hour. The 2km walk to the famous suspension bridge at the Stormsriver mouth is also a very scenic hiking option providing you with a balanced environment of ocean and forest. Most Garden Route tours make a stop in Tsitsikamma Park, be it for some hiking or simply to enjoy the view.

The above mentioned hiking trails are only a fraction of the outdoor adventures offered on our Garden Route tours. If you feel like getting a fair share of fresh air and wind in your hair, then definitely consider some of these hiking trails on our Garden Route tours.
