Attractions and highlights on our Cape Point tours

Cape Point tours take in all the important and scenic sights of the Cape Peninsula in one full day. Have a look below for the optional activities you wish to include in your tour and we will work it into the itinerary for you. Our Private Cape Point tours provide time and opportunity to include stops of your specific interests and might even allow for impulsive decisions or changes here and there.

We first travel from the City via Bantry Bay, Clifton and Camps Bay along the 12 Apostles Mountain range leading to Hout Bay Harbour. We stop at strategic points along the way for stunning photo opportunities of Cape Town's most popular beaches. At Hout Bay harbour you have the option of enjoying a seal boat ride, or simply walk around the African markets and shops.

Chapman's Peak is the next highlight. A beautiful mountain pass with miles of endless ocean a few hundred feet below the road. This road is specifically popular due to the annual cycle and marathon races crossing these mountains. This road is subject to weather and might be closed on very rainy days.

We drive pass the quaint seaside villages of Noordhoek and Kommetjie, and our journey continues towards the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and Cape Point Lighthouse. At Cape Point one can walk / take the funicular (tram shuttle) up to the look-out point for a panoramic view of the dramatic South Western edge of Africa. The funicular will be for guests' own account.

As a lunch option our guests can make use of The Cape Point coffee shop where sandwiches, pizzas, salads, snacks and coffee is available for a quick bite to eat. Those who prefer a sit-down lunch will have a wide selection of restaurants along the way. Sit-down lunches are always best to pre-book, so please let us know if this is of high importance. For tours filled with optional activities, we suggest making use of the quicker, take away lunch options to save valuable time. Private Cape Point Tours are built to suit your needs and interests, so just ask!

We then travel from Cape Point to the Boulder's Beach Penguins in Simonstown where an optional viewing of these birds can be done. Two penguins arrived here three decades ago and today it's a colony of thousands! Leaving Simon's Town, we travel via the towns Fish Hoek and Kalk Bay back to Cape Town.

Please note the route and itinerary of the above Cape Point tour might change or swop around depending on dictating circumstances, your personal activity selections or weather on the day.

Have a look below at the optional activities you can request along the way. Feel free to ask if you need some guidance.

Seal Island Boat Tours at Hout Bay harbour
These 45 minute tours takes you to a small island filled with a colony of seals along with beautiful views of the mountains, Hout Bay and Chapman's Peak as the journey takes off around 'The Sentinel' peak. These boat tours can be decided on the day, but may not always have availability, especially if the big tour buses decide to arrive on a specific day. If this activity is of high importance, we suggest you let us know so we can make a booking for you. There are a handful of operators available at Hout Bay harbour and rates along with departure times vary.

Wine Tasting at Groot Constantia Wine Estate
Along The Cape Point route you will find Groot Constantia Wine Farm, the first ever wine Estate in Cape Town and South Africa. For guests with limited time in Cape Town who won't be able to explore the Stellenbosch, Paarl or Franschhoek winelands, this stop with very interesting history and great wines will be a well appreciated alternative. A stop at Groot Constantia Wine Estate for a wine tasting can be decided on impulsively depending on allowed time as we return from Cape Point. If it's a priority, please let us know so we can plan accordingly.

Visit Cape Point Ostrich Farm
An optional visit can be included at Cape Point Ostrich farm where 30 - 45 minute tours will take you inside the life and times of ostriches and why exactly they are so valuable, mysterious and interesting. A relaxing coffee, toilet stop or light lunch can be enjoyed here along with top quality ostrich leather products for sale. If you've never tried ostrich meat, this could be an ideal opportunity to have a taste! Making an impulsive stop here to look around can be decided on the day, although tours are better to prebook.

Penguins at Boulder's Beach, Simon's Town
You can pay a visit to one of Cape Town's African Penguin colonies along the Cape Point route. These little creatures are found in Simon's Town, Boulder's Beach and are available to view by the hundreds all year round in any weather conditions. No pre-bookings are required and you can decide on the day. Please note that the exact same species of penguins are available to view in Betty's Bay on route to Hermanus. If you are doing a whale watching tour during June - November, you can include penguin viewing there also.

Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden
Enjoy a leisurely walk through the beautiful botanical garden of Cape Town on the slopes of Table Mountain. Kirstenbosch can be appreciated within an hour's time, where plant- and flower lovers will probably need some extra time. The new 'Boomslang' walkway takes you on an elevated walk through the trees with a bird's eye view of the garden. Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden is a very pleasant lunch stop and can easily be implemented as an impulsive stop during our Cape Town City tours.
